![]() If I had a place in my "garage" and time to maintain it, I'd totaly buy the Stache instead of any other 29" HT out there. It's been a true pleasure to test ride it. One of the most fun bikes I have ever ridden. Just remember to put a sub 50mm stem on it, to make it feel more humane. The Stache 9 has a dropper post and better components. It's a true explorers bike, long mile hauler, and since 29+ tyres are only slightly larger in radius than regular ones, you can easily put regular 29" wheels and tyres and enjoy a cool 29" HT in the summer time. The Trek Stache 5, Trek Stache 9, and Trek Stache 7 are all 29 aluminum frame crosscountry bikes. It does suck on gravel corners at speed and in berms but it's not that bad. It's a trail hardtail that rolls on 3 mid-fat tires for monster-truck traction on rough and loose terrain. With Stache 5, you don't have to pay a big cover charge to get into the 29+ party. I rode a trail that is barely rideable in the summer on the whole length, where Stache just kept going. I wanted the 2016 stache 7 (Im in love with the purple) they only have one in size 19.5 virtual/18.5 actual and it felt pretty good but definitely wouldnt want any smaller, the salesman said it looked a little small for me so he gave me a 2017 stache 5 21.5 virtual/20.5 actual to test out. As you’d expect from the higher prices, you’re getting nicer components across the board. Regarding the drivetrain, it’s a 1×10 system, however, the 11-36 spread isn’t too bad regarding range.
